Organizers release new date for the Giro di San Diego GranFondo and new routes, including a mountain bike route for 2018. Back by popular demand the date has been pushed back 5 weeks to cooler weather, now scheduled for late October. The start and finish will be at Kit Carson Park in Escondido allowing a cooler climb of the Mt Palomar, now positioned only 20 miles from the start. The long Course features a route that includes the Mesa Grande, a serene and picturesque loop in the back country of San Diego. Come Saturday to the Health and Fitness Community Expo and and bring the family to our new "Ghouls on the Run 5K and 1 mile kids run."

Patriot Ride For Our Heroes was born in the fall of 2012 when Tim Esser took his personal ride to Twenty-Nine Palms with several wounded marines to deliver the American Flag. Their spark, energy, and enthusiasm set this new ride ablaze. Growing up with a father who was D-8 (8th day on Normandy), and a mother who was very involved with the USO, Tim has always wanted to have a ride that will benefit local charities associated with Active Military, Veterans, Fire, & Police, hence the Patriot Ride!

The Manhattan Beach Hometown 10k Run was founded in 1978 by a group of local runners who wanted to have a race in town. It has always been a partnership between the City of Manhattan Beach and the Race Committee. This partnership makes keeping the race true to its original concept possible - the race is a true community event. The goals [then and now] are to: (1) Start on time; (2) give lots of awards; and (3) keep advertising OFF of the t-shirts. To our knowledge the Hometown 10K is the only race in the top 100 without a major corporate sponsor. |
